Navadvīpa Dhāma (Nabadwip Dhām) is glorified in the Gaudiya Vaishnava scriptures as one of the most merciful and powerful holy places. It is the eternal abode of Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu, the incarnation of Śrī Krishna in the mood of a devotee, who appeared to freely give pure love of God (prema-bhakti) through the chanting of the Holy Name.

1. Most Merciful Holy Dhāma

Navadvīpa is known as Audārya Dhāma (the abode of magnanimity).In other dhāmas, spiritual perfection may take long discipline.In Navadvīpa, even small sincere devotion brings great mercy.The Lord overlooks faults and blesses fallen souls in Kali-yuga.

 2. Appearance Place of Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu

Mahāprabhu appeared in Antardvīpa (Māyāpur). He inaugurated nāma-saṅkīrtana (congregational chanting of Hare Krishna). He taught devotion through humility, compassion, and love.“In Kali-yuga, there is no other way than chanting the Holy Name.”

 3. Superior Even to Liberation

Scriptures describe that: Residence in Navadvīpa gives bhakti, not just liberation. Liberation (mokṣa) is considered insignificant compared to love of Krishna obtained here.

4. Protected by the Holy Ganges

Surrounded by Gaṅgā-devī, who constantly glorifies the Lord. Bathing in the Ganges here with devotion purifies lifetimes of sins.

 5. Nine Islands = Nine Forms of Bhakti

Navadvīpa consists of nine islands, each representing one limb of devotional service: Hearing, chanting, remembering, worship, service, prayer, friendship, servitude, and full surrender. By parikramā of Navadvīpa, a devotee practices complete bhakti.
